Two Different “America’s”
Indeed…but not how he thinks.
Michigan Democratic Senatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed was on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning, and was asked about a post Donald Trump made that featured Trump and his wife next to El-Sayed and his spouse with the headline, “Two Very Different America’s” [sic]
El-Sayed gave what I thought was a fine response (see below), but he missed a few things. For starters, the guy on the left thinks plurals have apostrophes. He also thinks making an ad hominem attack like this is effective, rather than articulating policy differences.
Some other differences:
I assume that the whole idea of this post was to create the “scary brown foreigner” meme for the red hat faithful, but while there is an immigrant pictured here, she’s on the left.
Also, millions of Americans have seen said immigrant wife naked…or worse. Not so the spouse on the right.
She’s the second immigrant wife of the guy on the left, who’s been married three times. El-Sayid has only been married once.
The guy on the left cheated on all three of his wives; the third time with a porn star. He then tried to cover it up, the result being that he was found guilty of 34 counts of fraud, making him the first (known) convicted criminal in the White House. El-Sayid is a Rhodes Scholar and holds three degrees.
Both couples have shared qualities. Both of the El-Sayeds are doctors. Both Trumps are in the Epstein files.
But still, El-Sayed’s response shines, despite missing all of the above:
“He’s right. One in which your overlords are two people who don’t like each other but joined in the interest of making billions of dollars off of you. Or two people who genuinely love each other, enjoyed some pancakes together, want to come together to build the kind of America where they can raise a family and know that that family is going to have the good thing. So yes, you’ve got two different visions of America. Sara and I are running because when we look our daughters in the eye, Amelie and Sirin, we want them to believe that they’re every bit as able to have a better future than the one that they could have had under the Trump administration!”
I know which America I want to live in.
