The following picture popped up on my Twitter (I will never call it “X”) on Saturday. Yes, I admit to following the odd MAGA feed just to see what the hell they’re up to (and to see what revolting crap Trump reposts, including this one):
The post with the photo says, “A picture is worth 1000 words,” but I won’t waste that many here. This picture DOES tell a story, but not the one the poster thinks.
The message they believe they are conveying is “See how NORMAL Trump’s granddaughter LOOKS? See how WEIRD Kamala’s stepdaughter LOOKS? Vote accordingly.”
That ain’t it.
(Side note before I make my point: Why do they use Harris’ FIRST name and DonOLD’s LAST name? Oh, yeah, I know why…just making a snarky comment here).
Now, you might want to know that one of the two women in that photo is both a fashion model AND a designer in her own right and has received rave reviews. It’s the WOMAN ON THE LEFT—Ella Emhoff. She’s actually wearing some of the funky fashions she designed.
The woman on the right—Kai Madison Trump—is like her grandfather—a golfer (she’s a freshman at Miami U and hopes to make the golf team). She’s also like her grandpa in that she appreciates occasional rule-breaking, telling attendees at the RNC, “He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking.”
The real message is “We are of the opinion that LOOKS are EVERYTHING, ACCOMPLISHMENTS are NOTHING, and ANYONE who looks DIFFERENT than us (or the fantasy vision of ourselves that we carry in our heads) is AWFUL, DANGEROUS, WEIRD, and this includes anyone in their immediate family, so there.”
Vote accordingly.

Shallowness reigns supreme. Looks over inner beauty and substance. But isn't this a reflection of our society in general? We value Hollywood stars and sports celebrities more than teachers, firefighters and police officers. We value gold, silver and precious stones more than clean air and water. I could go on and on. There's nothing new here, is there?
